This makes the perfect little shelf with mousepad so I can easily use my mouse. Then it tucks away so it doesn’t take up room.My keyboard try was cramped with having my mouse on it also and this did the trick. It was easy to assemle and feels quite sturdy. It is very comfortable and the perfect solution.It's pretty nifty!I bought this little desk potato since I have a modern desk (i.e. no drawers). In the end, I LOVE it! But I need to tell you a bit about my journey.I bought this on Amazon and received it quickly. The next day, I opened the package and started assembling. The instructions say to "forcefully" insert the bolt from the clamp into the tray. The sole fault in this product is that "forcefully" is undefined...I'm a woman in my mid-50s with no discernable super-powers. Yet I managed to break the collar on the tray hole when I "forcefully" pushed the bolt into the hole.Amazon would have happily scheduled a return (I love that!) but I liked the product so much, and thought the company should know what happened. So I took a chance and contacted Stand Steady through their website, telling them about the break and offering to send them a photo of the broken part. I didn't expect much, since customer service these days is... well... "light on the 'service' part."Talk about a pleasant surprise!!! I received a response RIGHT AWAY from a very nice representative who thanked me for letting them know and said they would send a replacement part to me immediately. He also said he passed along my comments and photo to their product development folks. A few days later, the package was on my doorstep.The second tray did not break when I "forcefully" pushed the bolt through it, so perhaps there was a flaw or bubble in the collar of the first one I received. In short, the tray is now installed and I absolutely LOVE it. It is exactly what I needed and holds more than I expected.Setting aside the "forcefull" pushing of the bold through the tray hole, the tray is incredibly easy to install and it really holds well. My desk is formica, but the clamp stays in place and doesn't slide around.To set expectations, please note the following: The tray does not "swivel" freely. It is designed to stay in place until you turn it. Young children would likely have difficulty being able to turn the tray (which may or may not be what parents are looking for). The tray will not turn by accident -- you need to push it or pull it to get it to turn. Based on some of the comments I've read, it seems some people expect it to spin freely; that is not the case. Expect that you will need to make a bit of effort to turn it (but it's not terribly hard to turn).We bought this to use as a remote holder for our table near the TV and wow has it saved us so much aggravation. We keep everything underneath and no longer lose our remotes in the couch!The ONE thing I wish could be better is that the swivel is a bit tight and tends to make the clamp wiggle loose every once in a while. Probably could fix with a wrench or something, but it literally only happens once a few months after repetitive use. Totally recommend!Pretty easy to step up but it literally tells you to force the mounting piece into the tray which caused a crack. I had to zip tie it to keep it from breaking further. The other thing that drives me nutzzzz is it’s all plastic. If you look at my pictures you can see the pressure bends the plastic so everything is at an angle. Also, it takes some force to turn so I had to put some WD40 in it so it was smoother. 4/5 for sure but definitely not a five.Great dealOne thing's for sure, this thing is never coming off unless you are trying to get it off. However, it is very hard to move because of that, I wish it had more of a spin to it instead of having to actually pull it to get it anywhere.so soThis slides nicely under my stand-up desk.
